Medicare Supplement Plan F 2020
First things first…. IF YOU HAVE A MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT PLAN F OR C NOW, YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOUR COVERAGE!
On January 1, 2020, Medigap Plan F and Plan C will no longer be available to purchase. They will be removed from the Medicare Supplement plan chart and you will have to choose another plan option for your Medicare supplement coverage. The most closely related plan is Plan G.
Both these plans are essentially “full coverage” plans. Studies argue that people on Plan F have more doctor visits than those with other plans requiring a deductible. The responsibility of beneficiairies paying a deductible would reduce government spending by nearly $400 million within 5 years. This is the basis behind the change coming in 2020.
Those currently enrolled in Plan F or who enroll by December 31, 2019, you will be “grandfathered” into the plan. However, be aware Plan F and Plan C premiums could and most likely will rise after 2020.
Turning 65 and wondering NOW WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? PLAN G PLAN G PLAN G!. It is the same as Plan F but does place the responsibility for the annual deductible for Medicare Part B ($183 in 2017) on you the policyholder.
